What can be treated with acupuncture?

Because it is holistic in nature there are many benefits, over and above symptom relief, to receiving acupuncture from a traditionally trained practitioner.

Some of the common useful side effects of acupuncture include: Improved energy levels, feeling more relaxed, better sleep, clearer headedness, greater sense of wellbeing.

Most people can benefit from acupuncture and even where a condition chronic and intractable often symptoms will improve alongside general wellbeing.

Traditional acupuncture aims to treat the root causes of a disease or ailment. This is achieved by assessing each individual to determine which imbalances are present that cause or exacerbate the more superficial expression (or branch) which is normally a painful, uncomfortable, or otherwise distressing symptom. The assessment is then followed up with appropriate treatment to correct the imbalance. At the same time symptoms are addressed more directly - this is often as simple as placing a needle on or around a painful area.

One of the many benefits of acupuncture is that multiple ailments often respond at the same time (as a result of attending to the underlying imbalances. In this way a wide variety of conditions can be treated.

The World Health Organisation has recognised that acupuncture has been proven effective for many conditions. Listed below are just some of the most common ones:

Headache, Facial pain, Dental Pain, TMJD, Allergic Rhinitis

Neck Pain, tennis elbow, Periarthritis of the shoulder, Low Back Pain, Knee Pain, Sciatica

Nausea, Vomiting, Some other stomach problems, Dysentery

Rheumatoid Arthritis,

Post operative pain

Some menstrual disorders, Malposition of fetus

This is by no means a comprehensive list and the exclusion of your particular condition does not mean that it can't be treated. If you are unsure whether acupuncture can help you or have any questions about the treatment then please feel free to

contact me by email and I will normally be able to reply within the day.
